Situation: To make sales calls more effective, the Microsoft IT Pro Marketing team wanted to help IT Pros and developers find and use customer-focused content. However, with the vast amount of data in the TechNet repository, there was simply too much content for anyone to find videos, podcasts, and other information that might be useful for a sales call. Microsoft asked Advaiya to find a new way to solve the classic problem of information overload.
Solution: Advaiya built the Microsoft Desktop Player, a rich Silverlight application that functions as a technical content advisor. Complete with an intuitive, engaging user interface, this advanced player can filter technical content based on role, product, and technology adoption life cycle. It also connects to a powerful search tool that can quickly surface related content. In addition, the player can use a specific zip code or role to provide local content, such as area events and learning resources. Plus, the player includes detailed reporting capabilities, making it a comprehensive and essential sales application.
Result: The Microsoft Desktop Player is helping IT Pros and developers prepare customer-specific sales folders with record efficiency. More people are visiting TechNet and downloading the right assets the first time. As a result, the sales team can make more calls that are better researched and targeted.
